Dave's mom had so little confidence that he could graduate from college, she promised an all-expenses trip to Europe -- plane, train, cash, etc. (he'd never been abroad, and this encouraged to not only graduate but to do so in just four years). Upon graduation, mom and dad pitched in for a $300 Tissot watch.
Almost like visiting Switzerland.
Now 26, Dave has still never been abroad.
Dave, we feel your pain.

Yea man, that one hurt. I spent that summer selling shoes at a mall in Skokie instead.
It especially sucks when all my affluent friends boast about the semesters they spent overseas and how culturally enriched they are because of it.
Oh, and I took 4 years of French in high school and 2 years in college. Lot of good that did.
at least you can pronounce Tissot!
